From specialized contractor to general contractor

To transition from a specialized contractor to a general contractor, simply follow these steps:

CONSTRUCTION WORK - ETC-APECQ

A 66-hour program recognized by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ) to qualify as a guarantor for a general contractor’s license in “Execution of Construction Work” for subcategories 1.1.1, 1.1.2, 1.2, 1.3, and to be exempt from the RBQ exam in this field.

This module consists of 3 courses:

LEGAL, STANDARD, AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

Objective: To understand the scope and role of the key stakeholders in the Regulation on the Warranty Plan for New Residential Buildings, and to understand the contractor’s roles and responsibilities.

FIRE PROTECTION

Objective: To learn, understand, and apply the requirements regarding fire protection, evacuation routes, occupant safety, health, and accessibility, as described in the Quebec Building Code.

EXECUTION OF CONSTRUCTION WORK

Objective: To learn, understand, and apply the requirements for building construction—from excavation through interior finishing, including mechanical, electrical, structural, and building envelope systems—in accordance with the requirements of the Quebec Building Code.
