To become a specialized contractor, 3 modules are required:

ADMINISTRATION - ADM-APECQ

86-hour program recognized by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), to become a respondent in Administration and be exempt from the RBQ exam in this field.

This module offers 4 courses:

LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS

Aim: To acquire the basic notions of civil and commercial law as they apply to the activities of a commercial enterprise in general and to the construction sector in particular.

MANAGEMENT

Goal: Develop a global vision of the roles of the main functions in a construction company.

LABOR RELATIONS

Aim: to acquire a basic understanding of the application of regulations and structures specific to the construction sector, the system of representation for employers and employees, as well as negotiation processes and agreement rules.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

Aim: to develop a structured understanding of the organization and operation of the financial management of a commercial construction company.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT ON CONSTRUCTION SITES - GSC-APECQ

A 42-hour program recognized by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), to become a respondent in "Gestion de la sécurité sur les chantiers de construction" and be exempt from the RBQ exam in this field.

This module includes 3 courses:

PREVENTION MANAGEMENT

Goal: identify the legislation and tools required for sound prevention management on a worksite.

CLAIMS MANAGEMENT

Aim: to define the law on accidents at work and occupational illnesses (LATMP) and learn how to manage accident files.

SUBSCRIPTION MANAGEMENT

Purpose: to find out how various files are handled by the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).

PROJECT AND SITE MANAGEMENT - GPC-APECQ

144-hour program recognized by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), to become a respondent in "Gestion de projets et de chantiers" and be exempt from the RBQ exam in this field.

READING AND INTERPRETING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS

Aim: develop your ability to research information and develop your analytical skills in order to read and interpret project plans and specifications.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY MANAGEMENT

Goal: Acquire the tools, methods and knowledge needed to be more efficient, effective and better prepared to deal with common tasks and problems encountered in planning, organizing, directing and controlling projects on a construction site.

COST ESTIMATION AND QUOTATION

Goal: Acquire the principles and methods related to the presentation and use of tenders, bids and estimates in the construction industry.

Prerequisite: Reading and interpretation of plans and specifications.

LEGISLATIVE, NORMATIVE AND REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

Goal: Acquire an overview of the laws and codes governing construction in Quebec in the context of carrying out construction work, and gain a better understanding of the existence, scope and basic provisions of the industry's regulatory documents in order to comply with their requirements and responsibilities.
